...neither an ice cream or a cocktail drink as one might initially think, "floating island" was how the windtalkers from WWII referred to the Philippines, an archipelago strategically located in Southeast Asia...here I intend to think aloud and express my views, not only on people, places & events, but just about anything seen and heard from within and beyond my beloved "floating island", while attempting to find some significant human experiences out of them...

nothing beats boracay

being in a family who just loves picnics and outings, i've been lucky to see and experience so many beaches in luzon, visayas and mindanao, but nothing, there is absolutely nothing comparable to boracay...not even the over rated beaches in thailand and malaysia could be as close to its awesome beauty...the quality of sand is rare - it's not just powdery and white, but most amazing is that it doesn't scorch one's bare feet even during the peak of the noonday sun...other beaches may have their unique settings and views but when it comes to boracay sand, i could say it is one of a kind...

this particular boracay trip was made in feb 1997, just before Fairways and Bluewater Golf & Country Club started its project...two days ago (17 april 2005), the Shangrila Group of Hotels held their groundbreaking ceremony for their multi-billion resort in the island...i dunno if i should be happy for tourism, or cry once again, for a not-so-impossible disturbance of idyllic peace in such a paradise as our boracay...
