...neither an ice cream or a cocktail drink as one might initially think, "floating island" was how the windtalkers from WWII referred to the Philippines, an archipelago strategically located in Southeast Asia...here I intend to think aloud and express my views, not only on people, places & events, but just about anything seen and heard from within and beyond my beloved "floating island", while attempting to find some significant human experiences out of them...

dad@77

...a real blast!

dad had the most wonderful time being with his relatives, despite the randomness of the occasion as we celebrated his 77th birthday 4 days in advance...his one & only brother, cousins, nephews & nieces & their kids - they remembered and they came, such that he repeatedly said before retiring to bed after the party, "i couldn't eat nor sleep because i am so happy"...he was close to tears when at one time, he went to his room (usually the kids' playroom whenever they're here) and all of them did an impromptu song&dance number for him, their own rendition of the birthday song for the celebrant, too bad we weren't able to catch that on cam...

with a simple filipino-themed buffet and hearty conversations in between, the birthday boy continuously savoured that special combination even through the days that followed... it would have been perfect if only dear mom was still alive...

happy happy birthday again, DAD!
